What Makes My Cards Different?
Why should you buy my cards? You can buy greeting cards everywhere these days, from high end stationery stores to gas stations and online shops too numerous to mention. Everyone is vying for your attention and business. Whether you love stationery, or just have a need for a greeting card, shopping for that “just right” greeting can be overwhelming. So why should you choose to spend your hard-earned cash with me? Choosing where to spend and how much to spend is a growing concern these days. You want to get the most value and the best product.
A Little Backstory
We have all been to the “Big Box” stores that claim to have a “card for every occasion” – and plenty of other things to tempt you into spending more. They do have some funny cards, and some that are quite pretty. But I started noticing something when I was a young adult. At an event or gathering, the cards and gifts and there would always be multiples of the same card. Obviously, that card was a good fit for the occasion. But it became a bit of a joke (and an embarrassment for those giving the card) every time an envelope was opened and the same card came out.
I also began to notice that often, the cards were passed over. While the envelopes were opened, the cards were barely glanced at – and I’m sure, guests spent time to find the “perfect” card. Unfortunately, I would wager that many of those cards were never looked at again. And, while yes, the presents are really the star of the show, cards have been playing second fiddle for too long, lol.
A Love Affair With Paper And Design
I had just begun my love affair with paper and graphic design at this point. I knew there had to be a better way – a better card, you might say. One that would stand out from the crowd and not just be swept aside.
I began making my own cards, and immediately, people took notice that they were different. At first, I was concerned that my cards would also just be put aside. That would have been hard to watch because I spent time designing and hand crafting a just the right card for each recipient.
But in reality, people had reacted exactly as I had hoped. They opened the envelope and “ooohed” and “aaahed.” The card was examined. They passed it around to others who had similar reactions. I felt justified in the time and work I had put into making that “just right” card. I realized that people really do notice and appreciate the difference between hand-crafted and mass-produced. And so, the seeds of my business were sown.
So, What Sets My Cards Apart?
I personally design and craft each card by hand. I touch every piece of every card leaving my studio – including the packaging. My cards are never mass-produced or printed in bulk. I’m can’t compete with the volume of mass produced card companies. My goal is to create beautifully designed and detailed cards that are a better investment than mass-produced, pre-printed flat cards. And yes, it would be easier to flat print some of my artwork and mass produce cards. But then the “craft” would be lost. The “wow” factor would be lost. The “frame-ability” factor of each piece would be lost. And those factors matter to me.
Most Important Reason To Buy My Cards
Perhaps the most important reason, is that with each purchase, you are supporting my dream to be my own boss and to do what I love every single day. hat a blessing to absolutely love what I do! You are supporting a small business that helps support my family. That means the world to me, and I appreciate each sale more than you will ever know.
And while you can just “run to the dollar store to grab a quick card because nobody really cares about the card, right?” I will argue that they DO care about the card. Picking just the right card for a friend or loved one does matter. It matters! People notice. They recognize quality when they see it. People notice something a little different – something that stands out from the others. You know what I mean, you notice when people spend just a little more time and effort to “get it right.” When you send one of my cards, you send the message “you matter to me,” and all of that extra effort will be appreciated.
